Wring It Out was written in 1981 for my band, Hands. I've recorded a few different versions of the song over the years. The phrase, "wring it out" refers to wringing out your feelings, or getting them out of your system. Bill Reveles wanted to hear Bruce do a "Neil Young" type of guitar lead at the end, which he did to great emotional effect. I played piano on this one at Tally Sherwood's studio.

Lyrics

You can have what you want
I won’t take away anything from you
I won’t find a way through the excuses
I won’t shine a light
But don’t go away
Oh no

Why don’t you walk in the rain
Why don’t you wring it out

I saw you try
I say you wanting to spit it out
Something was on your mind
But you couldn’t figure it
And it won’t go away
Oh no

Why don’t you walk in the rain
Why don’t you wring it out

The problem is yours no matter what I say
I just want you to see
Through a grey rainy day
If you want
You’ve got everything
You’ve got everything

Why don’t you walk in the rain
Why don’t you wring it out
Why don’t you walk in the rain
Why don’t you wring it out
