From the recordings Morris Road and Morris Road
Between my divorce and finally meeting Paulette, I wrote this as a song for my imaginary future love. When I told Paulette this, not long after we met, she gave me a wary look, like, "I'm sure you tell this to all your girlfriends". Can't blame her for thinking that. My sister, Becky and Bill pitched in with beautiful background harmonies.
Lyrics
Cold window blue outside
The dawn brings in an early glow
Your face sings to me
The softest vision I’ll ever know
And I’m glad
‘Cause you’re the page I want to write
And you’re glad
The sun and water know
Your words speak to me
Your story is your own to tell
About a river that runs away
Then comes back ‘round to fill your well
And I’m glad
‘Cause you’re the page I want to write
And you’re glad
‘Cause everything is shown
And I’m glad
‘Cause you’re the page I want to write
And you’re glad
The sun and water know
And I’m glad
‘Cause you’re the page I want to write
And you’re glad
‘Cause everything is shown
