Okay, one last song about my divorce, and that's it! I swear to you! This was written when I found months and months had gone by and I wasn't snapping out of it. Time seemed to be stretching on and on. When we were recording the piano (in some Silverlake recording studio—can't remember where), Arlan was vamping, so we recorded some of that and used it as the intro. Matt did a lot of work editing and working in the drum loop we used from Dave's playing, which simulated a clock ticking. Everyone seemed to pitch in with ideas. In the end it was a nice bit of production. Tally added the huge chorus sound on the background vocals with some plug in he used. That's Becky, Bill and me singing. Bruce added the beautiful echoed slide. He always knew just what to do.

Lyrics

I wake up
And I think about how good you were
I remember we fell together
Like water shares the sand
Then I look in the mirror
And see myself staring back
I’m trapped in a moment
That is never gonna break

Time is overwhelming
How can time be my friend

I take a shower
And take the freeways
And I try to think of something else
Before I know it something reminds me
And I’m lost inside myself
It should be easy
When there’s so much time between
Now and us girl
Is there something wrong with me

Time is overwhelming
How can time be my friend
She says time can heal your heartache
But this time I’m hurting again
Hurting again

It should be easy
Is there something wrong with me

Time is overwhelming
How can time be my friend
I know time can heal your heartache
But this time we’re hurting again
